High-Efficiency Plate Heat Exchanger System
OPT-WP has high heat transfer efficiency which is 3-5 times compared with that of the conventional shell-tube heat exchangers and has smooth surface and insusceptibility to scaling. Its proprietary welded structure offers exceptional reliability in harsh conditions like corrosive media, high pressure and temperature. In addition, the design is more compact and easier to install and maintain.
OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The core of each OPT-WP full-welded, disassemble plate heat exchanger is a stack of corrugated heat transfer plates made of stainless steel or anticorrosion materials. Every other plate is fully welded by using proprietary welding techniques to form channels.

The hot and cold fluids flow through the spaced channels. The corrugated plates induce high turbulence, which increases heat transfer efficiency significantly and reduces the heat transfer area by 50-80% compared with similar shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Turbulence also reduces the accumulation of fouling. The unique plate design of OPT-WP eliminates dead zones in the heat exchanger.

The two flows in the OPT-WP can be configured as a single channel or can be formed into multiple channels using baffles. The number of channels on the hot and cold sides can be independently selected to optimize heat transfer, even when there is a big difference in flow rates on different sides. This unique flexibility means that OPT-WP is always ready to be accurately optimized according to the requirements. The baffles can withstand a full vacuum and can be rearranged if the design changes in the future.

The OPT-WP unit has counter-current flow and can operate with a crossover temperature program (in a single unit) and its temperature difference is only 2°C (3.6°F) so as to maximize the energy recovery. Due to the size is compact and lightweight, OPT-WP can be installed in various locations, such as on top of a distillation column or suspended on the support structure.

    The entire plate bundle is made from the same base material and welded together using argon arc welding, without the use of any non-metallic sealing materials. It has high heat and pressure resistance and can be 100% cleaned mechanically.

APPILICATIONS
Condenser
The short runner and large transverse flow area of the OPT-WP ensure the low pressure drop and high efficiency. The condensation efficiency of the OPT-WP is 2-4 times higher than conventional solutions which makes OPT-WP the ideal choice for condensing. Steam enters from the top of the device and condenses as it passes through the cold plate, then the condensate liquid is expelled from the bottom. If the steam contains non-condensable gas, OPTTEN can design a dual-channel layout on the condensing side which the separation of gas-liquid is within the OPT-WP so there is no need for separators. Condensation primarily occurs during the first pass. In the second pass, the non-condensable gas is supercooled and also can be used as demister.
Liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling
The efficiency of the OPT-WP is 3 to 5 times that of shell-and-tube heat exchanger which makes it the perfect heat exchanger for liquid-to-liquid applications (heater, cooler or heat exchanger). The OPT-WP is capable of handling crossover temperature within a single device and the temperature differences can reach to as low as 2°C (3.6°F) which offers significant energy conservation. Due to its flexible flow configurations, the OPT-WP can also easily handle with non-uniform flows. As this lightweight device is installed vertically so there will be no difficulty in installation.
Reboiler
OPT-WP can be the perfect reboiler with its high thermal efficiency, compact size, low static head, little fouling and easy to clean. It can be used as thermosiphon or forced circulation reboiler. OPT-WP can easily increase the capacity of reboiler up to twice that of a conventional heat exchanger of the same size and reduce the installation costs of the distillation column. The compact size means that the holdup volume is very small and residence time is very short compared with conventional heat exchangers, which reduces the thermal degradation of the fluid.
